Is this for me?
Do you want to meditate, but don't know where to start, or haven't found a meditation technique that really clicks for you?
We try out 6 established techniques from many traditions - Buddhist, secular, yogic, and interfaith.
The 6 meditation techniques we'll cover are Yogic Breath, Mindfulness, Metta, Passage, Chakra, and Japa. If you don't know what these are, great - because that's what I'll be teaching!
How, exactly, will I benefit?
Each meditation technique has its unique benefits, which you'll learn. And ideally, you'll identify one of these techniques to use regularly in your own practice. With this program, you'll be equipped to choose a technique that has the particular benefits you're seeking, or one that just feels right - the experience itself can be your criterion. Ultimately, as with all meditation practices, you'll gain the skill to focus on what deserves your focus.
So, what do we do?
In class, there’s community discussion, a lesson about the meditation technique of the day, about 5 minutes of gentle preparatory movement, a 10-minute systematic relaxation practice laying on your back, then a 10-to-15-minute guided traditional meditation done seated.
